REA’S CAREER IN NUMBERS: a look at the #65’s record-breaking career in stats
With the six-time Champion announcing his retirement from full-time racing at the end of the year, take a look at some of the key numbers from his career
Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) has enjoyed a record-breaking MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship career, with more titles, wins, podiums and fastest laps than anyone else. With the #65 announcing he’ll wind down his career at the end of the year, it’s a good time to look back on a historic career with some key numbers – which will change with four rounds left of the season.
36,345 – Rea has raced 36,345km in WorldSBK, more than anyone else. This is roughly 4,000km short of riding around the Earth’s circumference.
8,035 – The #65 has raced a total of 8,035 laps in WorldSBK (up to and including the Hungarian Round)
6,336.5 – Rea has so far scored more than 6,300 points in WorldSBK. His next nearest rival – Troy Corser – has 4,021.5. In terms of riders on the 2025 grid, Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) is closest with 3,273; he’s fifth on the all-time list.
2,013 – Of the more than 8,000 laps he’s raced, he has led for just over 2,000 of them, or just over 9,000km.
500 – Rea claimed Kawasaki’s 500th podium in WorldSBK, in 2022 at Donington Park in Race 1. He also took their 450th rostrum.
459 – Rea has started 459 WorldSBK races, more than any other rider.
403 – He has scored points in 403 of his 459 races.
264 – Rea has stood on the podium in 264 of his 459 races, or 57.51%. He has more rostrums than anyone else and has stood on the podium in 26.37% of WorldSBK’s 1,001 races.
119 – The Northern Irishman is the only rider to have more than a century of wins in WorldSBK, with 119. He scored 15 for Honda and 104 for Kawasaki.
104 – He has recorded 104 fastest laps. This is more than anyone else – he’s the only rider to have scored triple-figure fastest laps and he is 43 clear of his nearest challenger, Razgatlioglu.
44/51 – Rea has taken 44 WorldSBK poles. Only Tom Sykes, with 51, has more.
14-01-08 – To show his longevity, the time between Rea’s first and last wins was 14 years, 1 month and 8 days – beating the previous record of 12 years, 11 months and 0 days set by Noriyuki Haga.
18 – Rea has raced in 18 countries and won in 15 of them.
6 – Rea has six WorldSBK titles to his name, coming consecutively between 2015 and 2020. He secured all of them with Kawasaki.
